She is the First ever woman in the history of Philippine music to sell more than 200,00 copies of a single album! (Only Jose Mari Chan and Eraserheads are the only people who have done the same feat.)
She received the arward for her album, "Nina Live" on ASAP last Sunday and she was in tears.
Congrats Girl! You deserve it.

Wow. React much? When I read my comment over, there wasn't even a hint of bitterness. Really...i even said I like nina...because I DO. I love listnening her songs (favorite of which is "foolish heart") but i was just saying that she's not the ONLY female artist. With that I might just take back the "first female to achieve" because I don't know which of them recieved it first.
ReplyDeleteAnywayz, Regine V also got a diamond award for her R2K album which was released in 2000. From what i've been reading from other people on the net, she sold more than 200,000 units by 2005...or later.
I know, i know: Are there actually figures? Honestly, I can't find any, so it's quite hard to support what I put up...oh well. I just wanted to make it clear. You can check out RV's wikipedia page if you'd like. And if you think it's false then you can edit it and simply delete the sentence that says she got a diamond award.
Anyway, this is pointless...nina can have that title, she deserves it naman. Congratulations to her because at times like these (with all the piracy) achieving diamond status is VERY, VERY DIFFICULT.

-It is apparent above that you're insisting Regine to be the first female artist to achieve a diamond status for an album. BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. In fact, no records per see could support your claim. According to various lists in the internet (and the press releases of ABS-CBN, Warner Music Philippines and Universal Records) of the BEST SELLING OPM/FILIPINO ALBUMS OF ALL TIME, only 3 Filipino artists achieved a DIAMOND STATUS for their albums: Jose Mari Chan, Eraserheads and NINA. Therefore, NINA IS THE FIRST AND THE ONLY FILIPINA who has achieved and be awarded of a Diamond record award. Regine (and her R2K Album)is not even included in the TOP 20 ALBUMS list of the entities I mentioned above.
I just want to correct your belief (and your disbelief for this matter). And I appreciate the fact that you commend Nina as an artist.
I know what I 'suggested' and you obviously do not get. It's okay, you don't have to. Also you've obviously not checked out the source i gave you. Oh well, I don't really mind (you're not obliged to anyway). Whether you think it's reliable or not, it's still something to look at.

To make you happy, I am simply going to concede with your pov and say that yes, "NINA IS THE FIRST AND THE ONLY FILIPINA WHO HAS ACHIEVED AND BE AWARDED OF A DIAMOND RECORD AWARD," but it doesn't mean that that is what I truly believe.

ReplyDeletethe awards was given by PARI... its the PARI who validates the number or figures.. meron din kasi iba na gawa2 ng info with out basis.. in short bloated ang figures thats why hindi sila nabibigyan kasi unsupported with actual sales...
