10 people DIED watching Pacquiao-Cotto fight! Outrageous!

Yes. How can that happen? We're happy for Pacquaio and we had goosebumps watching the entire fight but we still can't see why Pinoys are reacting like Pacquaio just saved us from eternal damnation.

Sure, he will be coming home with lots of money (and so will the politicians who placed a bet on him-grr) and the boxers in our country might receive higher respect from now on but how else will Pacquaio's win affect the lives of ordinary Filipinos? Will foreign investors come running to our country just because he won? Will our economy shoot back up once he comes home with the new belt? Will our education and health systems improve? The big answer is NO.

Let us be realistic guys. The only benefit we can get from Pacquaio is a little sense of pride (Hey world! I come from Pacquaio country, hire me! adore me!)and entertainment. Plus maybe something to talk about for a week. But aside from that, nothing. Pacquaio will become richer, buy more cars and houses and clothes for her Mommy D and Jinkee, that is if they won't fight because of Krista Ranillo. He will have more money to fund his political plans(and the political plans of those who keep sucking up to him).

And how about us regular Pinoys? We will go on with our lives with the same problems plus maybe a sense of pride (I come from Pacquaio country, hire me! Adore me!)

  2. I've been from an international conference and they always say that Pacquiao is our hero. Well, at some point he influenced heroic acts like "no traffic" (citation needed haha) in Manila and low crime rates, aside from that really compelling story about the kidnapped priest in Mindanao.

But he was never my hero. I am the one who can save me. And I am one of the people who can help my country move forward. Having him as a hero means you also want to go boxing, set records, and earn tons of money. Earning lots of money isn't my dream. I'd rather stay grounded knowing that with my small power and financials, I could do better for my country.

  3. yup, the only thing that you could have after every fight of manny is the pride of being a filipino, win or lose. regardless of the fact that many in the government right now are corrupt, people choose to be blinded by some moments of glory whereas the problem of the country persists more.
