Gerald Anderson gets First Best Actor Award; Kim gets her second one!

The Student’s Choice Awards for Radio and Television of Northwest Samar State University has awarded Geral Anderson his first Best Actor award for his performance in Tayong Dalawa while Kim Chiu was given her 2nd Best Actress award also for Tayong Dalawa.

But I will be very happy kung mabibigyan ako ng award. Pero kasi hindi ‘yun ang goal ko tuwing gagawa ako ng project. Ang gusto ko lang e makilala bilang isang magaling na aktor, kung may award man o wala.”

And here's another one: Gerald was given recognition by the Philippine Psychiatric Association for his portrayal of a young man stricken with Tourette syndrome in the episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya entitled Lubid.

This just reminds us that QUALITY shows don't only get good ratings but also lots of recognition. Kudos to abs-cbn for making relevant projects such as these. GMA should get the idea and think outside their comfort zone of fantaseryes.

We also love Gerald's humility.

Another award for Lobo!

Angel Locsin haters must be pissed big time again. What some people have been calling a failure or a flop show for Angel is gathering up awards!

Angel Locsin and Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina went to National Commission for Culture and the Arts to receive the Ani ng Dangal for Multimedia award for the recognition that the show gave to the country.

Kudos to Angel and the cast. This just shows that quality lives on long after the ratings game. Lobo was a big hit in the nationwide ratings but did not reign in Mega Manila so some people were calling it a flop and a karma for Angel for transferring to ABS-CBN. Many even laughed at Angel's show because they thought it was the start of Angel's downfall.

Who's laughing now?

Have you seen Pink's AMAZING Grammy Performance?

Wow. Now that's entertainment! We'll see who can do something like that first here in the Philippines. C'mon, singing in the center of the stage is so old! Pinoy concert artists should start getting creative and daring. Right?

I Love You Goodbye is closing in on Panday; is now at second place!

Just as we were expecting, Star Cinema's entry to the MMFF will not go down without a good fight. We remember Judy Ann Santos' Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo which was second to Vic Sotto's Enteng Kabisote for the few days after the MMFF entries were launched and coming out as the biggest grosser in the first week of January. Will I Love You Goodbye be able to do the same thing? We're not sure. Panday still has a comfortable 6.6Million lead. But this may end the idea that ABS-CBN stars were the losers in the MMFF box-office. Or are they?

35th Metro Manila Film Festival
Box Office
(As of January 6, 2010, Day 13)

1. Ang Panday – P97.6M
2. I Love You, Goodbye – P91M
3. Ang Darling Kong Aswang – P88.3M
4. Shake, Rattle and Roll 11 – P76.3M
5. Mano Po 6 – P41M
6. Nobody, Nobody But Juan – P31.4M
7. Wapakman – P2.6M

Sunday, January 3, 2010

Wapakman is still the weakest MMFF entry; looks like Pacquaio is not as charismatic as many think he is!

Here's the official box office results of the 7 MMFF entries after 8 days or as of January 1:

1. Ang Panday – P69.7M
2. Ang Darling Kong Aswang – P66.7M
3. I Love You Goodbye – P60.8M
4. Shake, Rattle and Roll XI – P59.8M
5. Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love – P29.9M
6. Noboby Nobody but Juan – P26M
7. Wapakman – P2.4M

Wapakman is still last with a very low 2.4 Million pesos while I Love You Goodbye has climbed up to Top3.

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Only 5 of the 7 MMFF entries will open on Dec.25!

Here are the list of movies that will open on Dec. 25:

Sharon Cuneta’s “Mano Po 6: My Mother’s Love
Shake, Rattle & Roll XI
Dolphy’s “Nobody, nobody But Juan.”
Bong Revilla's "Ang Panday"
Vic Sotto's "Darling Kong Aswang"

“Wapakman” will open on Dec. 27 because of late submission courtesy of Krista Ranillo's unavailability

Finally, “I Love You...Goodbye” will be launched on January 1 next year.

This is a way to give the movies more chances of earning more by decreasing the competition. Do you like the schedule?

>This is actually based on a news from stir.ph

However, the commercial for I Love You Goodbye has a very clear DEC.25 showing! We'd rather believe the teaser right?

Our Favorite comedienne receives a much-deserved award!

Pokwang just received a Working Mom Magazine’s Balance Award for the Triumph Over Tragedy category last night! Congratulations! According to the editor-in-chief of the said magazine, they chose Pokwang because when they read Pokwang's story they started crying because they never knew she has a sad life.

Working Mom Editor-in-Chief Dedet Panabi said, "She's a comedienne and she's always making people happy and yet she went through all of this (sufferings) but she didn't give up. She didn't lose her sense of humor, never stopped wanting to make other people happy and I think the reason why we gave her an award is that I'm sure there's no one in this room who has not gone through any tragedy and what Pokwang reminds us is that there's always a reason to laugh, there's always an opportunity to make others laugh and the real triumph here is the human spirit that nothing can bring a good mother down."

Pokwang said on abs-cbn.com, "Thank you very much.

She made the audience laugh when she said, "Thank you po sa Working Mom, sa mga bumubuo sa lahat lahat, Sir Ernie Lopez , maraming maraming salamat sa iyo, crush kita alam mo 'yun.

Anak TV Awards: Looks like kids don't like Kapusos that much!

How come most stars of the self-proclaimed No.1 network in the Philippines did not even get noticed by kids? Nowhere in the list are Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn Mercado and even Alkris.

How would GMA fans explain this?

GMA people snub Star Awards!

Yes. The PMPC Star Awards for television was well attended by stars. But only a few of them were from the Kapuso network. Most of their representatives were from Q11 and only Rufa Mae Quinto, Raymond Gutierrez, JC Tiuseco and Sunshine Dizon were seen there.

What's behind the absence? Hmm.

On another note, congratulations to TV5 and QTV11 for the awards! Good job guys!

Angel didn't win the award but ruled the red carpet!

She might have lost to UK actress Julie Walters, more commonly known to us as Mrs. Weasley on the hit “Harry Potter” movies but Angel still made some noise in NYC after getting the loudest cheer on the red carpet.

Well, she deserves the attention. She's just beautiful!
