Sam and Sarah to pair up for a musical dramedy teleserye!

While we're happy that Sarah will again have a teleserye. We're kind of worried that this project will be similar to GMA's Diva (although we think Diva is similar to Sarah's Pangarap na Bituin in 2007).

Yikes ABS-CBN if that will happen. Sarah is such a great artist and it will be a shame if they give her a gaya-gaya serye.

We hope this project will be original and memorable. What can you say about this?

What the.. MTRCB pushes to suspend Showtime again!

Still because of Rosanna Roces' remarks on the show, the MTRCB will again suspend Showitme, Magpasikat and any other similar show. And we're like, what?

Err. Here's abs-cbn's statement regarding this matter posted on pep:

ABS-CBN soap operas continue to be shown in more places abroad!

The unforgettable love story of Yna and Angelo is fascinating millions of people abroad as the ABS-CBN soap opera continues to be sold to other countries. In fact, Pangako Sa'Yo or The Promise is being watched by around 1.3 Billion Chinese at present! The show is now 10 years old but is still being aired in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Cambodia!

According to Reena de Guzman Garingan as posted on pep.ph, "We have proven that the Pinoy brand of work is really one of a kind, and something you all should be proud of as Filipinos. Gusto niyo bang mapanood ang French Version ng Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay? In English, it's called The Long Way; and in French, it's called La Longue Attente. So, maganda bang pakinggan? We have carefully done it in many languages..."

She shared that 30 ABS-CBN shows are being sold to "15 countries in Asia, 5 countries in Europe, 12 in French-speaking African countries, 20 English-speaking African countries, and 5 Portuguese-African countries."

The most recently sold ones are Tayong Dalawa or The Two of Us (which was sold in Malaysia, Brunei, and Kenya), Lobo or She-Wolf: The Last Sentinel, and Dahil May Isang Ikaw or Destined Heart.

These facts make us PROUD to be Filipinos! It's like we're showing the world that our craft can also capture the hearts of audiences in other countries!

And oh yeah, it proves that ABS-CBN shows are really of HIGH quality. Let's see what GMA fans will say about this.

Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz's teleserye is tentatively titled "Immortal: Lobo 2"!

The TV show will have a vampire/wolf/action/fantasy theme which is quite interesting for us. In fact, the vampire thing is so hot right now in the US and we think it's gonna work in the Philippines too!

Here are other upcoming shows from ABS-CBN announced in the trade show conducted by the TV network in Boracay:

Melason in The City
This will be the follow-up of Melason in Love which we think will feature Melai and Jason's life outside the PBB house.

The next round of “Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla”
After Gerald Anderson, Jolo Revilla, Coco Martin and Jake Cuenca, another batch of ABS-CBN young actors will take on the former roles of Ramon Revilla in his old movies. The three lucky stars are Jolo Revilla, Enchong Dee and Rayver Cruz. Yes, Jolo will do another part of the series which is just right because after all, he's a Revilla.

Magkaribal
This will be Gretchen's new show on ABS-CBN where she will be paired with Derek Ramsay and will also feature Bea Alonzo. Claudine was supposed to do the role of Bea but she's a Kapuso now and that makes it impossible for her to still do the project.

Do you like these shows?

So what can you say about ABS-CBN's latest SID?

We don't think it's the Kapamilya Network's best Station ID yet but WE LOVE IT! It's still fun and very summery but it has the social relevance that Kapamilya Station ID's always have. We also found the top-view effect cute and creative!

Vhong comments on Angel's pull-out from Kokey!

Here are Vhong's statements in an interview with abs-cbn.com:

First time nga lang na magte-teleserye kami.”

Hmm. We're really unsure about this Kokey thing. Will it be a hit?

ONE HOT SUMMER in Tanging Yaman; You Like?

Sizzling hot but still cute enough. However, we hope the show remains to be relevant and will not fall back into the comfort zone of cheap romance. What do you think?

ABS-CBN releases statement on their Ratings!

Here's the press release from abs-cbn.com:

More Filipinos tuned in to ABS-CBN shows in all parts of the country from sign-on to sign-off, weekdays to weekend in February 2010.

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, the country's largest multimedia conglomerate, has captured Mega Manila TV ratings with an audience share of 38.2 percent in February 2010, beating rival station GMA Network Inc.'s 38.1 percent, based on audience measurement surveys conducted by global media specialist TNS (Taylor Nelson Sofres).

ABS-CBN Head of Research and Business Analysis Vivian Tin attributed the success in winning Mega Manila to its increasing audience share in Metro Manila, beating competition by four percentage points last month. ABS-CBN's audience share in Metro Manila to 40 percent in February 2010 from 36 percent in the same period last year, whereas GMA experienced a drop in its audience share to 36 percent in February 2010 from 40 percent in the same period last year.

Tin said the other factors that contributed to strong showing in Mega Manila include efforts to provide quality programs and improve its reception in the area. ABS-CBN's Mega Manila audience share grew to 38.2 percent in February 2010 from 34 percent in the same month last year, whereas GMA's share shrunk to 38.1 percent in February 2010 from 43 percent in the same period last year.

Overall, ABS-CBN continues to be the national leader by reaching more Filipino households in all parts of the country making it the top choice of advertisers for its wide reach. ABS-CBN's audience share in February 2010 hit 48 percent as compared to GMA's 32 percent.

...

ABS-CBN's programs also swept the top 10 slots in the TNS’ overall weekend TV ratings survey.

“PBB Double Up Big Date on the Big Night” held at the Ninoy Aquino stadium took the country by storm and led all weekend programs with a rating of 44.6 percent, the highest weekend program rating reported by TNS since it started releasing national ratings in February 2009.

The country's largest reality-talent search “Pilipinas Got Talent” came in second place with an average rating of 39.1 percent. Its pilot weekend telecasts rated 38.7 percent and 37.5 percent— a performance level that “May Bukas Pa” introduced during weekdays. Its second weekend airing was even more astounding with its Sunday telecast hitting a 43.1% rating, making it the current leader in TNS’ weekend TV ratings survey.

Meanwhile, Korina Sanchez’ magazine program “Rated K” continues to dominate as the top-rating weekend current affairs program with an average rating of 31.3 percent.

Other weekend programs in the Top 10 include “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (31.2%), “Agimat: Alamat ni Ramon Revilla” (29.8%), “Goin Bulilit” (27.9), “The Singing Bee” (27.8), “Pinoy Big Brother Double Up” (26.7%), “Pinoy Power 3” (25.8) and “Wowowee” (24.8).

TNS is a leading market research group in the world with a proven track record in audience research measurement systems in 32 countries. It started releasing its national television audience measurement (NUTAM) data on February 2009 with panels, composed of 1,370 representative households, covering urban Philippines and reporting on seven sectors namely NCR, Suburbs, North Luzon, Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

ABS-CBN shifted to TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court.

Finally: Full Trailer of Your Song presents "Isla"!

Wow. We love the suspense twist. We thought it was just some summer love affair kind of thing. The story seems similar to "I Know What You Did Last Summer" but we never know.

Paul Jake still has to practice his Tagalog and the housemates have to improve their acting skills but we think the show is going to be a hit.

37, 000 auditionees in one day for PBB Teen Edition 3!

Wow. We hope those PBB people will get high quality housemates from those thousands. And by high quality we mean those who are NATURALLY interesting, fun to watch and ones who can stand out without pretending to be in love with another housemate or other cheap dramas!

Tanging Yaman teaser for the coming days: HOT!

Love. Love.

Now that's one show worth watching. Agree?

Gerald Anderson gets First Best Actor Award; Kim gets her second one!

The Student’s Choice Awards for Radio and Television of Northwest Samar State University has awarded Geral Anderson his first Best Actor award for his performance in Tayong Dalawa while Kim Chiu was given her 2nd Best Actress award also for Tayong Dalawa.

But I will be very happy kung mabibigyan ako ng award.

And here's another one: Gerald was given recognition by the Philippine Psychiatric Association for his portrayal of a young man stricken with Tourette syndrome in the episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya entitled Lubid.

This just reminds us that QUALITY shows don't only get good ratings but also lots of recognition. Kudos to abs-cbn for making relevant projects such as these. GMA should get the idea and think outside their comfort zone of fantaseryes.

We also love Gerald's humility.

Do you miss her?

We do. But don't fret, we'll be seeing Jan Di or Koo Hye Sun on Rated K this Sunday.

But before that, Melai will be making more buzz by guesting on Ted Failon's Failon Ngayon on Saturday.

Can't wait.

Angel Locsin signs 2-year contract with ABS-CBN; says she learned a lot from the network!

Angel and abs-cbn fans are so gonna love this interview with Angel posted on abs-cbn.com.

On her career in ABS-CBN

So ito (soap with John Lloyd Cruz), kahit na medyo matagal yung wait, okay lang kasi worth it talaga.

On the project with John Lloyd

Agree. Agree. You?

Gretchen Baretto is now a Kapamilya!

The controversial beauty just signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN to do a teleserye with Bea and Derek.

Gretchen said on abs-cbn.com, “Ang galing, magkakaroon na ako ng ID dito. May swipe card na ako. Kasi araw-araw akong nandito tapos tinatawag pa namin ‘yung marshal [para makapasok]. May ID na ako nakalagay Gretchen Barretto, Kapamilya.”

Too bad her sister is already transferred to GMA. It would have been nice to see them in one project.
